De Unie believes that there should be a healthy balance between the interests of the company and the employees. De Unie has chosen this as a starting point and has drawn up an action program for the coming period under the title: Working together towards a future.

Future of VDL Nedcar

Most employees consider this the most important point. During the coming term of the Works Council, work will be done on the future of VDL Nedcar. At the moment it is only known that a "restart" will take place. John van Soerland and Willem van der Leegte told this in a video message shortly before the summer holidays.

There are various scenarios for this restart. Whatever it is, the OR representatives of De Unie will monitor the director critically, so that the interests of all employees are also represented in a balanced way. If a reduction of employees has to take place during the restart, a good social plan must be drawn up for this.

Corporate culture

Another important aspect is the company culture and how employees should treat each other. To this end, the leadership program has been launched. The Works Council members of De Unie consider it important that these manners are not only used on paper, but also in daily practice by everyone. To start with, the good example must be set by the management. We will therefore monitor this critically.

Performance

According to our board, the staff is the most important asset of a company. The employees make it happen to produce high-quality cars on time every day! Good terms of employment and a good assessment system must therefore be counterbalanced.

Communication

Good communication remains an important means of keeping employees engaged and motivated at VDL Nedcar. Although improvements have been made in this area recently, we believe it can be (much) better. We will also pay attention to this in consultation with the management.

De Unie

It is important that works council members can always fall back on a trade union. De Unie has a great deal of in-house expertise in the field of legal aid and the guidance and training of Works Council members. For example, Works Council members are informed of their rights and obligations during their work in the works council. They can always rely on De Unie. They have the available knowledge and expertise.
