Voluntary severance scheme
This scheme was very recently announced by the employer and made available for a very short period of time to employees in the positions selected by the employer. With this, VDL Nedcar is trying to reduce the announced compulsory redundancies. According to the employer, about 200 employees have registered for this so far. In the coming weeks, the employer will assess who is definitively eligible for this. Employees who qualify for this will be offered a settlement agreement (vso) by the employer to terminate their employment. If an employee agrees to this, the employer will terminate the employment with the employee. You have 14 days after signing to return to this. We advise the employees who come into contact with this to have the vso checked by our lawyers.
After an analysis and determination of the number of employees who want to make use of the voluntary scheme, that number will be deducted from the announced number of redundancies.
Payment € 60 upon dismissal
The current Collective Labor Agreement for Metalektro contains an agreement on the reduction of the pension premium during the term of the Collective Labor Agreement. As a result of this agreement, the employer reduces the employee premium by € 60 per month. If an employee leaves VDL Nedcar due to the termination of his or her employment, he or she will miss this amount. We don't think that's correct. Based on this, we have now agreed with the employer that VDL Nedcar will pay the total missed amount in one go, on top of the severance payment.
Supernumerary notification
Employees who become redundant due to the reduction of 2 shifts to 1 shift will be notified in mid-September next. This will take place in a personal conversation. During the interview it will be told who may or may not stay. The employees are trained to make the transition from 2 to 1 shifts as smooth as possible.
Work-to-work mediation
According to the employer, the employer is in consultation with parties such as the UWV, regional and local government and labor market regions to help the redundant employees find another job as efficiently and as quickly as possible. We have offered our help on behalf of the trade unions. We also have the resources and experienced experts that we can deploy from the Metalektro sector. VDL Nedcar indicated that they are open to this. We will coordinate a few things with each other after the summer holidays.
This is briefly what we discussed with the employer in the last meeting before the summer holidays. Shortly after the summer holidays, we will continue our regional consultation with VDL Nedcar about further developments.
