You have probably already heard through pamphlets or media that the ultimatum from the other trade unions has expired on Saturday 6 May at noon. On this basis, they have called on their members to strike for 12.00 hours from today.
We have already informed the members that we cannot do that yet, because we have planned a (8/17.00) members meeting about this at 3 p.m. today, May 4. Based on the outcome of this members' meeting, we can find out whether the members are on De Unie will also ask to go on strike.
If that is the case, we will forward that request to the board of directors De Unie present. Only after the approval of the board can we actually participate in the strike actions. In accordance with the legislation, we will first have to give the employer an ultimatum, just like the other trade unions. This can take place immediately after the members' meeting. After the expiry of the term of our ultimatum, we can formally call on our members to take part in (strike) actions.
Until then, out of solidarity, if you want to participate in the strike action announced by the other trade unions, you can do so, but in that case we advise you to take leave on that day.
