UWV: Report of collective labor agreement consultations January 16, 2023

January 17 2023

Are we actually going to work it out with the UWV? The last round of negotiations ended in disappointment. The employer's new wage offer is 5% for the first year and 3% in the second. You think this is insufficient. Who will help to force a breakthrough?

CLA negotiations

On 16 January 2023, the collective labor agreement negotiations resumed. The trade unions first handed over the petition of the employees. The petition was eventually signed by 9236 UWV employees. Maarten Camps has received the petition on behalf of the Executive Board. At the presentation, we emphasized that 9236 UWV employees have expressed that they are not satisfied with a 4% structural salary increase. Inflation in 2022 was 10%. Then 4% is too low, employees want to maintain their disposable income. But employees also do not feel completely taken for granted by UWV. We see that the climate is hardening.

Answer Board of Directors

Trade unions have asked Maarten Camps to respond to this message from the staff. The Board of Directors has the following message:

  • Important signal from all employees.
  • It is good that we are discussing this with each other that we can do justice to the care, commitment and appreciation that we have from the MT and the Executive Board for all those colleagues who are committed
  • Our colleagues' commitment is indispensable, appreciation is very great.
  • The petition indeed helps to clarify and underline how important it is to reach a good collective labor agreement.

How further

In the meantime, UWV has increased the offer to a two-year collective agreement with a structural salary increase of 5% in the first year and 3% in the second year. With an agreement about a one-off payment if inflation exceeds 3%. So the petition has already helped. However, trade unions consider this insufficient. 9.236 employees have signed a petition in which they ask the Board of Directors to meet them seriously.

In addition, have De Unie and UWV also have a considerable discussion about the cost reimbursements.

We must seriously take into account that the collective labor agreement negotiations will not go smoothly this year, we cannot achieve a breakthrough at the negotiating table. UWV does not meet the expectations, as expressed by you in the petition.
