Technical Wholesale: Result poll collective bargaining result

December 21 2022

The negotiations with the Employers Technical Wholesale (WTG) about a new collective labor agreement led to a negotiation result on 30 November, a definitive collective labor agreement offer from the WTG. In the run-up to the negotiations, research firm Innervoice conducted research into employees' preferences regarding their terms of employment. Last September, 8 panel sessions with employees led to a survey in which 6644 employees participated. The insights from this research process formed the basis of the negotiations that followed with the WTG. We call the process that has been followed DigiC. The next step in the DigiC process involved being able to cast a vote (by the employees, union member or not) on the outcome of the negotiations.

The results of the poll on the final collective bargaining offer of the WTG are now known. Research agency Innervoice has determined the following result:

7680 employees cast a vote. These employees voted as follows:

  • 3072 employees agree with the collective bargaining result: 40%
  • 4608 employees do not agree with the collective bargaining result: 60%

This result means that there is no support for the negotiating result and as a result the final collective labor agreement offer of the WTG will be rejected by De Unie not be converted into a new collective labor agreement.

What now?

When casting the vote, employees in the Technical Wholesale were able to explain their vote. These explanations will now be carefully analyzed to get a good picture of the reasons given by employees for rejecting this result and the reasons given for agreeing.

The information based on the many explanations (almost 3000) of the respondents, enables us to discuss the next step with the WTG again, which will ultimately have to lead to a new result that can count on the support of the majority of employees. For now this means that no collective agreement has been agreed with De Unie. What De Unie Let's go back to the negotiating table. We will call on the WTG to talk to us again.
