On 23 December 2022, we informed the members about the agreement we had reached in outline regarding the social contract Groen Staal. In the first months of this year, we further elaborated the text of the social contract. At one point we ran into a difference of opinion between the employer and the trade unions about the interpretation of parts of the outline agreement. That led to a stalemate.

Green Steel social contract agreement
Recently, things have moved again. On Wednesday, July 5, 2023, Tata Steel, De Unie and her fellow unions a negotiated result on the social contract.
The social contract concerns the employees working in the factories HOO6, HOO7, KGF1, KGF2, DMS and part of the SIFA. A limited part of our member base at Tata Steel is employed in these factories. We cannot remove that part from our membership administration.
We have therefore submitted the social contract for approval to our group of executives at Tata Steel and to our employment conditions coordinator. Both are in agreement with the negotiation result that we have achieved. That agrees De Unie with the concluded social contract Groen Staal.
