Sweco: CLA negotiations update

February 09 2023

During the information meetings on January 23, 2023 of De Unie, CNV professionals and FNV and other employees said to you with 350 people: the wage increase must be at least 7%. We won't make it. That's why we want you Monday, February 13 at 12.00:14 p.m. and Tuesday, February 13.00 at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. via MS Teams asking how to proceed. The link to MS Teams is at the bottom of this newsletter. Distribute this newsletter to all your colleagues, they are also welcome as guests.

Employees told us on January 23:

  • Sweco increases rates by 6%.
  • Sweco generates sufficient returns to pay the shareholders, so why not the employees?
  • The other engineering firms give a structural wage increase of at least 7%. Based on a benchmark, wages at Sweco have increased extra in recent years because we lagged behind the competition. Why would we want to lag behind the rest?
  • If competition can raise wages by 7%, why can't Sweco?

Our two questions to the employees were:

  • Do you think we like De Unie, CNV Vakmensen and FNV can agree with less than 7%?
  • What do you think of the board wanting to keep the freedom to lower the matrix to accommodate their current pay offer? The management indicates that it may halve the current matrix for the wage offer of 6,3%.

You can answer in the MS Teams meeting, but you can also email us earlier. You will find the contact details at the bottom of the newsletter.

The current state of affairs:

There has been agreement for some time on these points:

  • In the past period, the management has already paid a contribution towards the energy costs of € 250 net in two parts: € 125 in December 2022 and € 125 in January 2023.
  • Increase of the (untaxed) kilometer allowance to the fiscal maximum:
  • €0,21 net/km from 1 January 2023
  • €0,22 net/km from 1 January 2024
  • The bicycle scheme: an improvement proposal will be discussed further with the Works Council;
  • Expansion of bereavement leave, as discussed by the parties, will be included in the collective labor agreement;
  • A time-for-time bank for job grade 11 and higher from 1 October 2023, further details of the conditions will be discussed with the Works Council;
  • Extension of the agreements from paragraph 5 of last year's collective labor agreement negotiation result (12 January 2022);
  • A collective labor agreement with a term from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023.

We talked about the wage offer for a long time. We are talking to each other in the negotiation about the collective wage increase. The matrix for the individual pay increase based on performance will be determined by Sweco at a later date.

Sweco made an ultimate wage offer on 31 January:

  • A collective increase in 2023 of an average of 6,3%. This collective increase consists of a nominal increase of € 75 and 1,6% as of 1 March 2023 and another 3% as of 1 July 2023. In 2023 itself, this amounts to 4,25%.

Having this ultimate offer from Sweco De Unie, CNV Vakmensen and FNV on 31 January and the Works Council on 7 February made a counterproposal.

De Unie, CNV craftsmen and FNV have made the following counter-proposal:

  • A collective increase in 2023 of an average of 7,3%. This collective increase consists of a nominal increase of € 100 and 2% as of March 1, 2023 and another 3% as of September 1, 2023. In 2023 itself, this amounts to 4,56%

The OR has made the following counter-proposal:

  • A collective increase in 2023 of an average of 6,3%. This collective increase consists of a nominal increase of €75 and 3,3% as of March 1, 2023 and another 1,3% as of September 1, 2023. In 2023, this amounts to 4,6%.

Sweco has indicated that it can go along with the works council's counter-proposal. In addition, Sweco has indicated that the counter-proposal of the Works Council is the maximum feasible and that the counter-proposal of the trade unions is unfeasible for Sweco. The trade unions have indicated that they want to consult with their members first, because this counter-proposal from the Works Council does not fall within the mandate given to them by the members. The parties will discuss this state of affairs with their supporters in the coming days. The collective bargaining will continue on 14 February. We will keep you informed of the progress.

So far the presentation of the facts.

Members have received an invitation to join the meeting on:

  •  Monday 13 February 1200 hrs
  •  Tuesday, February 14 at 1300:XNUMX p.m

Follow-up process

Tuesday evening 14 February we will meet again with the AVO committee for the follow-up.
