CRV Vote negotiation result collective labor agreement

January 05 2023

On December 13, 2022 De Unie reached a negotiation result with the management of CRV for the new collective labor agreements (CRV and Monsternemers) as of 1 January 2023. We formalized the agreements that we made with the management in a number of constructive consultations on 4 January and you can here .

We speak as De Unie of a negotiation result and present this result to you (moderately) positively. De Unie wants in principle to make wage agreements involving an improvement in purchasing power. But with today's high inflation, our (realistic) bet is inflation as maximum as possible must be compensated by wage increases.

It is good to first consider the concept of inflation.

As far as we are concerned, a distinction should be made between structural inflation and non-structural inflation.

  • Structural inflation is inflation that remains; which is very unlikely to be compensated by future price falls or government measures. About 2022% of the current inflation (expected to be 10%-12% for the whole of 6) is structural. This is also referred to as 'core inflation'.
  • Non-structural inflation: of the 10%-12% inflation mentioned above, gas and electricity account for at least half. The expectation is (and you can already see that) that these prices will fall in 2023. In addition, the government is making up for a considerable part of the increased energy costs by building in an energy ceiling and adjusting tax rates and tax brackets with the aim of restoring purchasing power as much as possible before 2023.
  • For the year 2023, inflation is now expected to be 5% to 6%.

With the agreements we have now made with CRV, we have come a long way in the desired direction. The total agreed structural salary increase in the new collective labor agreement with a term of 17 months is 8,5% (4,5% + 3,5% + 0,5% year-end bonus). Calculated back to 12 months (annual basis), this is 6%.

A one-off payment of €750 has also been agreed. This benefit will be very welcome for many. This one-off payment currently contributes to the current loss of purchasing power. This one-off payment also partly compensates for the disadvantage of allowing part of the structural increase (3,5%) to take effect later than on the first day of the new collective labor agreement.

Finally, we also have to take into account the financial state of affairs at CRV. Although the results of CRV are not negative, they are nothing to write home about either. In addition, at CRV we all look to an uncertain future and the certainty of a declining cattle herd in the coming years.

All other agreements made, in addition to income, are included in this negotiation result.

Put all the elements together and all things considered De Unie this collective labor agreement result positive to the vote of its members.
