All employee organizations involved in the Sabic Limburg collective labor agreement have decided not to accept the employer's final offer (dated September 30, 2025). This means that no new collective labor agreement will be established based on this final offer. The current collective labor agreement now has a lasting effect, meaning that no changes can be made to the existing one. As a result, no wage increase will be granted, and the proposed deterioration measures in the employer's final offer cannot be implemented.
The members of De Unie At Sabic Limburg, during a well-attended meeting at the end of October, the final offer was rejected by a large majority. The proposals to abolish the guarantee scheme and include scales C40 and C41 in the Global Salary system were the main reasons for this rejection.
During the three-quarter meetings on November 19 and 20, it became clear that the union members will not, for the time being, take any action to force the management of Sabic Limburg to agree to a collective labor agreement.
The unions regret the impasse and accuse the management of Sabic Limburg of an extremely rigid stance in the process of reaching a collective bargaining agreement. Despite a massive rejection of some of the employers' proposals, they seem to be clinging steadfastly to these deteriorations without proper substantiation. This creates a situation that is now very rare in Dutch labor relations. It is a warning sign that a large and renowned company like Sabic cannot reach a reasonable and transparent solution with the unions in this growing collective bargaining agreement conflict.
