Nothing is finalized yet. Aegon is investigating the pros and cons of a relocation and what the process should entail, not least considering the impact on employees. A relocation would affect approximately 250 employees.

The results of the study will be announced on December 10, 2025, and will clarify whether the headquarters will move.

Context

The potential relocation is being considered based on its operations. Approximately 70% of Aegon's group activities are located in the US. Aegon believes it would therefore make sense to locate its headquarters there to simplify its corporate structure. We asked Aegon whether the potential relocation is also related to the business climate in the Netherlands or the US. It is unknown whether this is one of the considerations.

Process

If it becomes clear on December 10th that the relocation will go ahead, the transition will take approximately two to three years. This is due to the transition to the American reporting system and the care that must be provided to affected employees. The collective bargaining agreement process remains unchanged. The impact of a potential relocation will, of course, be discussed in detail.

Membership

The future brings uncertainty, as is now evident at Aegon. This also highlights the importance of membership. You can offset your union dues tax-efficiently through your employer. Broad support for De Unie is important. Have you not yet been a member of De UnieThen you can become a free member for one year in September!
