Philips: Continued reorganization process

February 02 2023

After the announcement of the new wave of layoffs by Roy Jacobs, new CEO of Philips, we immediately sounded the alarm with the management of Philips and asked us to inform us about the content of their plans and their implementation. We want clarity as soon as possible about which employees will be affected and when and how reorganization plans will be implemented. We tell you about what will happen in the near future.

Decision to close EDP and Vitaal Health

Only from last Wednesday and Thursday have we been confronted with the proposed decision on the closure of companies such as EDP in Best and Vital Health in Ede. Although this does not mean an increase in the number of announced 1100 compulsory redundancies, we would have liked to have received this information from Philips sooner.

Explanation on “Operating Model”

Monday 6 February we will be informed about the “Operating model”. In this way we hope to learn more about the usefulness and necessity of this model and the reorganization. What will be the impact on Philips' new course?

CSP is extended

Our demand to have the current Central Social Plan (CSP) extended unchanged until 2026 has finally been accepted by the management of Philips. That is in any case a good step from Philips. The social plan contains good agreements in case you are affected by the reorganization. We do want more attention for support in finding other work within or outside Philips. After all, there will not only be 1100 redundancies. Around 3000 employees will also be given a different position within Philips.

No adverse consequences for employment conditions

We would like the reorganization not to have any adverse consequences for the current employment conditions of the employees. More attention should also be paid to possible consequences for the work-life balance of employees.

High

The collective bargaining will also have to be restarted soon. Our commitment to the collective labor agreement will not change as a result of the reorganization! There will have to be a good compensation for inflation. Your input during the past meetings was clear enough!
