As is known, the pension system in the Netherlands is changing. A number of matters were agreed upon earlier this year between Philips and the unions, such as the choice for the Solidarity Premium Scheme, a premium change as of 1 October last and compensation as a result of that premium change. The Solidarity Premium Scheme then had to be further substantively shaped.

Further elaboration of the scheme
The content of the new scheme has been agreed with the other trade unions and De Unie worked out in a transition plan. The Association of Pension Recipients (FPVG) has now been asked for its opinion on this transition plan. This has led to some adjustments to the plan.
Member consultation
The next step is that the transition plan is presented to the union members. If the members agree with the transition plan, it will be presented to the pension fund board.
Philips Pension Fund Board
The fund board is asked to implement this scheme as of 1 July 2026. They will accept this assignment if they believe that the plan offers a balanced outcome for all target groups (pension accruers, former employees who still have their pension with the fund and pension recipients).
Information!
In order to properly inform employees about the transition plan and to enable union members to cast a well-considered vote, a visual has been developed with a clear explanation of the choices made and the process. See here the visual and view here the draft transition plan. The summary of the draft transition plan is here to read.
Closing comments
The joint unions believe that the new pension scheme is an important step towards a future-proof pension system. With this scheme, we maintain the core values of solidarity and collectivity, while at the same time responding to the changing needs of the future. We are confident that this scheme contributes to a stable and secure pension provision for all our members. That is why we and our fellow unions are submitting this result to the members for a vote with a positive recommendation. We hope for the support and confidence for this important transition plan.
To vote
The members have received an invitation to vote until Monday November 18th!
