Philips: Final offer

March 29 2023

We have asked Philips to withdraw the final offer and renegotiate with us in order to achieve a better result for a new collective agreement. With this we have made it clear to Philips that we want a substantially higher wage increase than stated in their final offer.

On Friday 24 March, Philips formally informed us that the final offer has been withdrawn and that they would like to continue negotiating with us. We are certainly happy with this move by Philips and we are ready to go back to the negotiating table.

Introductory meeting with CEO Philips

We had already planned an introductory appointment with the new CEO of Philips, Roy Jakops, on March 31. As an extension of this, we will restart consultations for a new collective labor agreement with Philips. We do not expect to make any concrete substantive agreements on that day, but we do expect a new follow-up process to coordinate a new collective labor agreement.

Remarkable explanation from Philips

In the meantime, we understand that Philips has provided an explanation via an internal mailing (“average 7% in 2023”) about the content of the final offer as they see it themselves. Without going into their point of view, we can tell you that we do not recognize ourselves in this. You will probably also agree if you compare our explanation of the content of the final offer with that of Philips.

Signal from members came across well!

The clear signal of the outcome of the member consultation helped us to show Philips that the final offer was unacceptable and that you ask us to achieve a better result for the employees.

Follow-up process

We will continue to keep members informed of further developments. Let your colleagues who are not yet members join De Unie also read this post. This way they can also see the union membership De Unie has a major influence on achieving a better collective labor agreement at Philips.
