NXP Semiconductors: Collective Labor Agreement 2022-2023

26 August 2022

On July 7, 2022, I, John Kapteijn, asked you about topics to improve the collective labor agreement. There is always room for improvement in terms of employment. Even a fully developed package, which has been in development since the Philips era, can be optimized. Or not? To be honest, the response was a bit disappointing, but together with Nico van Bergen, Arno Gosgens, Rob Verhaert and Marion Fokkinga – our executives – we are considering the proposals to be submitted. I will inform you next week about the draft version of our proposal letter.

The collective labor agreement expires on 1 November

So far, negotiations at other companies and sectors have mainly focused on:

  • The shortage in the labor market
  • Inflation

Employer branding

Secondary and tertiary benefits will play an even more important role in 2022 to properly position NXP Semiconductors, both inwardly and outwardly. To retain current talent and attract new ones.

Kickoff

We kick off on Thursday 15 September. This is the first consultation in the context of the negotiations. The first round is scheduled for Thursday, October 6. The second round will take place on Wednesday 19 October. It is a challenge to figure it out before 1 November and therefore have new agreements before the current collective labor agreement has expired. That will of course also depend on how difficult or how easy the parties want to make it together. Are we getting into fundamental discussions? Or do we follow a pragmatic path? For example, by concentrating on the structural wage increase for this contract.

Consultation with the OR

Once a quarter, employee organizations meet with the works council (OR). The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 8 September. If there are any matters that should be discussed in the context of the consultation, please let me know. Thursday 8 December is the Q4 meeting.

New members welcome and very much needed at NXP Semiconductors

The past few years has De Unie - unfortunately – in a number of branches, sectors or companies said goodbye to the collective labor agreement consultations because the number of members had become too small. This does not have to be for eternity because a membership can of course also grow again. Do you want that De Unie continues to talk on your behalf about the employment conditions at NXP Semiconductors, make sure we stay out of the danger zone and recruit a new member every now and then. Join the conversation and strengthen our position at NXP. Also in 2022, being a member of an employee organization is still of great importance. Young colleagues are certainly also welcome. And remember: The legal expenses insurance does not discuss the collective labor agreement or social plan.

If you have any questions about the negotiations or if you want to give your opinion, please contact me via john.kapteijn@unie.nl or call 06-5252 2067.
