Pension Act
The Cabinet recently sent new pension legislation to the House of Representatives. The bill supplements the previous pension law with concrete elaborations of the two pension contracts, namely the flexible and solidary contract. The bill will be discussed in the 2nd and then 2st Chamber later this year with the intention of having the law take effect on January 1, 1. From that date, the parties to the collective labor agreement can switch to one of the two pension contracts. Whether this succeeds depends not only on politicians, but also on the pension providers. They must implement the new legislation in their systems in order to be able to implement the choices made by the social partners.
National associations of trade unions and employers, together with the government, have created a website to provide information to employees and employers about pensions. MITT . pension plan
To prepare for the new pension legislation, delegations from the trade unions, employers and the MITT pension fund meet each quarter about the process to be followed. This under the supervision of an external pension adviser. We discuss the pension contract, transfer of accrued pension rights, survivor's pension and determining the transition compensation. We are aiming for the new pension contract to be introduced on 1-1-2025 or as sooner or later as necessary. An important condition is that the new pension legislation is in place.
