Metal and Electrical Industry: We have a negotiation result!

17 December 2025

Good news! At the end of last month, we informed you that no agreement had yet been reached in the negotiations for the Metal and Electrical Industry collective labor agreement. We had called on the FME to seek more authority and kept the process open to reach an agreement. And we did!

During an additional round of negotiations, we reached an agreement with the employers: a negotiated outcome for a new collective labor agreement for the Metal and Electrical Industry. In this newsletter, you can read what we agreed upon and what it means for you.

The main points of the result:

– Term of 1 year, from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
– A salary increase as of January 1, 2026, divided into a percentage increase of 2%, plus a nominal salary increase of €43 gross per month.
– One-off payment of €100 net in November 2026.
– Net reimbursement of your union dues for 2026 (provided you are a member on January 1).
– The HP collective labor agreement salary limit will increase to €131.256. So, no reduction!
An increase in the RVU benefit of €300 gross for new participants from January 1, 2026.
– When switching from a generational pact to an early retirement scheme (RVU), you will now receive the RVU benefit based on your original working hours (i.e. the full benefit).

What do we think?

Although the wage results don't include the increase we'd like, we're still pleased that employers have increased their wage offer by 2%. This increase will benefit everyone up to the salary threshold.

Also important: several major proposals for deteriorating employment have been withdrawn from employers. For example, the lowering of the wage threshold has been taken off the table, and the proposed austerity measures for (long-term) sick employees have also been dropped. These were thorny issues for many members. Thanks to their input, these proposals were withdrawn.

Given the short timeframe, we can quickly resume discussions on the submitted proposals that currently lack space. We are therefore satisfied with the overall outcome and will therefore submit it to our Full or Extra membership members for a vote.

To vote

This is a negotiated outcome, and the agreements will only be finalised once the constituents of the various parties agree.

In January, members with a Complete or Extra membership will receive a voting link. They can use this link to indicate whether they agree with the agreements made.
