As you know, the current collective bargaining agreement expires on January 31, 2026. This summer, our members provided us with a wealth of input on the state of affairs in the Metal and Technology sectors and their wishes for the new collective bargaining agreement. We are extremely pleased with this, as it allows us to negotiate with a well-informed and strong mandate.

The first day

On this first day of negotiations, the unions and the FWT employers' delegation explained their proposals. While this all took place in a pleasant and informative atmosphere, it quickly became clear that there are significant differences between the direction the employers want to take and what is actually happening. De Unie has in mind. While we focus on improving purchasing power, strengthening sustainable employability measures, cost reimbursements, and improved leave arrangements, the employer delegation is pushing for scaling back regulations, reducing personnel costs, and arranging matters as much as possible at the company level, separate from the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) table.

You can make the proposals of De Unie here read back, and that of the employers here.

The next round of negotiations

The next round of negotiations is scheduled for December 9th. Now that all the proposals have been explained, we hope to be able to make real progress on the substance, so we can start the new year with a strong new collective bargaining agreement in sight.

If you have any input, comments, or suggestions regarding the negotiations, please let us know!
