Metal and Technology: Feedback from the second round of collective labor agreement negotiations

12 December 2025

Last Tuesday, December 9th, the second round of negotiations for the new collective labor agreement for the Metal and Technology sector took place. Unfortunately, no major steps have yet been made toward new agreements. We also haven't received any wage offers from employers.

The second round

Although we delved deeper into the content than in the first round, the second round focused primarily on asking questions and clarifying the proposals from all parties. It's clear that the employers' delegation is primarily focused on shortening and weakening the various relief measures for older workers. They are also very hesitant to discuss wage increases: they indicate that they first need a better understanding of the overall picture before they can make a wage offer.

RVU

As previously agreed, the RVU scheme will be extended for one year if the government allows for this. A final decision on this will be made in December, and applications are expected to be available again in early January.

The sequel

After the first two rounds of explanations, it's now clear where the parties stand on the matter. We'll continue discussions on January 13, 2026, and we hope to begin negotiations at that time.
