KRLI: There is a collective bargaining result

May 17, 2023

De Unie has reached a collective bargaining result with the employers in the Plastics, Rubber and Adhesive Industry (KRLI). After a number of intensive consultations, we have reached a final result together with our fellow unions. De Unie and CNV Vakmensen qualify the result as a negotiation result, agreed with the employers. (The FNV considers the result as a final offer from employers).

Negotiation result

You can download the full text of the negotiation result here view.

The main points in outline are:

Duration:

1 year (June 1, 2023 to June 1, 2024).

Income:
As of 1 June 2023, the salaries and salary scales will be increased by € 150 structurally. With effect from 1 January 2024, the salaries and salary scales will be structurally increased by 2,0%.

These 2 together lead to a structural wage increase that varies from 9,4% in scale A0 to 5,9% in scale J10.

Travel expenses:
From 1 December 2023: The employee for whom the distance between home address and place of work is more than 10 kilometers (one way) will receive a tax-free allowance of at least € 0,19 per kilometer for the full home-work distance (vv), with a maximum of 30 kilometers (one way). This travel expenses scheme is a minimum scheme.

'Moderately positive

The negotiation result has been put to the vote of the members. It is now up to the members of De Unie whether we are going to agree to this negotiation result.

As negotiators, we are moderately positive about this negotiation outcome.

  • To maintain purchasing power, every employee should receive a structural wage increase of 8%. So we couldn't agree on that for everyone.
  • If we compare the wage agreement with what has been agreed on average in other sectors of the industry so far (7,5%), we are slightly higher; we are clearly above the national average (6,6%).
  • On the other hand, the disadvantage is that the 2% will not take effect on 1 June, but on 1 January 2024. Of course we would have preferred to see it differently.
  • We are positive that we have agreed on a minimum travel allowance. On the other hand, it is a pity that we were not able to immediately agree on the fiscally permitted kilometer allowance (of € 0,21).

This last point is an example that employers were at the end of their mandate. This negotiation result is the maximum achievable for employers.

We present this negotiation result to the members with a (moderately) positive voting recommendation. They have received an invitation to vote before June 3, 2023.
