ING: Periodic consultation report, quarter 4 2022

December 06 2022

The collective labor agreement negotiations at ING are difficult to get off the ground because ING's salary offer is too low for a company as successful as ING. Of course stays De Unie commit to your collective agreement. Do you want to know more? Look here.

Periodic consultations

We regularly consult with ING about current affairs. In this periodic meeting we have the opportunity to discuss questions that members approach us about. Periodic consultations are also used to further elaborate collective agreements. There were still subjects from the previous collective labor agreement that had not yet been implemented. And there is a lot going on at ING right now.

Additional meetings scheduled

The last periodic consultation dates from June 2022. We have insisted on scheduling new periodic consultations. After all, there is much to discuss. On November 23 and December 1, we spoke with ING.

Reports November 23 and December 1, 2022

The following topics were discussed:

shift allowance
Discussions have been going on for some time between ING and the trade unions about the shift work allowance provisions. The text in the collective labor agreement is open to various interpretations and the way in which ING is now implementing the provisions is leading to dissatisfaction among employees. ING has re-examined the matter and seems to follow the explanation of the trade unions in parts. We have agreed with ING to set up a working group that will determine the correct explanation.

Standby control
The explanation of the standby or consignment arrangement is also a point of discussion. This topic has come up more recently. Due to the expansion of the core team, the number of employees who have to work standby shifts has risen sharply. It is not yet clear whether this expansion of the core team has come about in a regular manner. The ING order that you must be online within 24 minutes 5 hours a day, seven days a week, makes standby very difficult. Initially, the standby service was not set up in this way. The fee that ING pays for standby services is according to De Unie not in line with the obligations imposed by ING. Our HR discussion partners want to find out how the current stand-by arrangement came about. They come back to us. So this topic will be continued.

Lease arrangement
We once again drew attention to the dissatisfaction with the lease arrangement. Many members send us calculations with the actual costs of an electric lease car. They show the gaping gap between the lease budget and the actual costs. ING says it has agreed an evaluation with the Central Works Council. And refuses to discuss the topic on two tables. But the objections and arguments we have provided have been noted by ING. De Unie keep this subject on the agenda with ING and we will also discuss it with the Central Works Council.

CMU
Three components have been agreed for the collective social benefit for 2022. If all three components are passed, you will receive 100% of the CMU. The agreements regarding NPS and sustainability have been achieved. However, this does not apply to the CSR days. The objectives for the CSR days have been completed for about half. ING has decided to extend the term to December 15, 2022. Have you performed CSR days that you have not yet recorded in workday? Then do this before December 15. This also applies to CSR days that you will realize after 15 December.

performance management system
A performance management system is included in the collective labor agreement. The starting point is that you have three meetings a year with your manager about your goals and their achievement. In principle, your score has no impact on your increment. Clear agreements have been made in the collective labor agreement about the annual salary increase. Performance management has been rethought at group level. Changes are proposed. We will talk to ING to see how we want to deal with this in the Netherlands.

Tailor-made pilot leave
In the previous collective labor agreement it was agreed to carry out the unlimited leave pilot again. The name has since been renamed Verlof op tailor. De Unie follows the pilot closely.

Health check
In the previous collective labor agreement it was agreed that employees can have a health check done free of charge once every two years. The health check is ready and is now being rolled out per province. The employees who were able to have a health check done are satisfied with this service. Employees can see on ING Today when it is their region's turn.
