ING: Collective bargaining agreement of 12 October 2022 is canceled

October 06, 2022

There is still no movement from ING. Unfortunately we don't have good news for you. We had to cancel the collective labor agreement meeting of 12 October 2022.

Why is the October 12 meeting canceled?

During the previous consultation day, on 15 September 2022, we made it clear to ING that the employer must substantially increase the wage offer – the paltry 2% collective salary increase. We cannot negotiate credibly without a better wage offer. Inflation is now at an unprecedented high level. If ING still sticks to 2%, then it is clear to our executives that this cannot result in a collective labor agreement that we can submit to the members with confidence. Our executives have learned from previous collective labor agreements that ING remains very firm once a position has been taken.

ING has announced that it will not be able to make a move on or before 12 October 2022 with regard to the collective structural wage increase. As a result, the executives decided not to enter into negotiations on 12 October.

What can ING promise?

ING repeats the previous proposal, there is room for further differentiation in the individual salary increase (the scale increase) and ING is prepared to pay a higher one-off payment. ING wants to discuss this further with trade unions. Of course we are prepared to include a one-off payment in the negotiations, this is also an important instrument. But with a higher one-off payment you will of course never make up for the gap between a 2% collective salary increase and the inflation level in September.

white paper

De Unie and CNV professionals have jointly compiled a White Paper with the help of members and employees. We did this to show ING that what trade unions contribute to collective bargaining is really supported by the employees. The result of this action is impressive. But trade unions apparently need even more persuasiveness to persuade ING to make a higher offer.

How further?

De Unie is examining, together with the executives, what action we can follow up on the White Paper. We will come back to that in the next member's message. Do you want to become active and help to prepare the next steps, please contact us.
