November 05 2024

The fourth day of negotiations has brought some movement. It was agreed in advance that the structural salary increase would be an important agenda item that day. Everyone realizes that the parties have to reach an agreement on the structural salary increase. That means that everyone has to move, otherwise we will not reach an agreement with each other.

Movement De Unie on November 4th

From the position of De Unie it is important that the deficit of 11% purchasing power is closed. But it is also important to realize that we have the highest wage demand. Together with the other unions, we have looked for a creative step to advance the collective labor agreement negotiations. After all, our goal is a fair collective labor agreement for all employees.

The movement of De Unie is that we offer to spread the 11% over several years and we include a percentage profit sharing scheme in our proposal.

Concrete proposal De Unie

  • 7% structural salary increase as of January 1, 2025
  • 7% structural salary increase as of January 1, 2026
  • Profit sharing scheme with target 4%

We will not achieve the full 11% catch-up inflation with this proposal; the remainder would then be carried over to the next collective labor agreement period.

With this proposal, De Unie a big step.

Movement on behalf of ING management on November 4

An increase was proposed compared to the first salary proposal.

  • 4% structural salary increase as of July 1, 2025 (plus 0,25% compared to the opening bid)
  • 3% structural salary increase as of July 1, 2026 (plus 0,50% compared to the opening bid)

Other agenda items November 4

Other topics were also discussed on November 4.

We discussed a number of topics proposed on behalf of the ING management.

Pay for growth
A rating-dependent increase is proposed. The higher your rating, the higher your scale increase. The main objection of De Unie is that you are still taking far too long to grow to the maximum of your salary scale. The available budget is too low, this needs to be De Unie concerns upwards. Therefore, De Unie a fixed scale increase of 3% of your scale maximum is proposed.

Variable compensation
It is proposed to expand the group of employees who receive variable remuneration. Some commercial functions are being considered. It concerns a variable remuneration that yields a one-off payment of 10% on target. But that can also vary between 0% and 20%. The management of ING says that it does not want to create an advantage for a group, so the employees involved will not receive a one-off structural salary increase in 2025 in this proposal from ING.

RVU scheme
At the suggestion of De Unie the RVU scheme was discussed. This scheme is in the collective labor agreement for the year 2025, but this scheme is expiring. Now that we are talking about a two-year collective labor agreement, it is important to also discuss the future of the RVU. In the consultation between employers, trade unions and the government, national agreements have been made about an adjustment of the RVU. In the new scheme, ING would no longer be able to offer RVU to employees. De Unie wants to discuss how we can include an alternative arrangement in the collective labor agreement.

Ideas were also exchanged on the shift work scheme, the 80-90-100 scheme and, at the initiative of one of the other trade unions, on the reduction of working hours.
