Hybrid work
The request for advice regarding hybrid working is being handled by the works council. The COR would appreciate it if colleagues with questions on this subject also submit them to the works council.
In the consultation of 2 June with ING, we conveyed the reactions of members to the proposed tightening of the policy. The reactions are nuanced. On the one hand, there are members who experience that working in the office has a positive effect. However, a general obligation to work in the office two days a week does not fit in with the formulation in the collective labour agreement, and people experience that ING has no confidence in the consultation between employees and managers.
On the other hand, there are many questions and objections. ING is a diverse company with very different functions and forms of external contacts. This means that a general policy often does not fit all employees. A strict two-day-at-the-office policy encounters many objections, where a more flexible policy would support the employees much better.
On June 2, we discussed the intended tightening of the policy in general terms. We have conveyed the specific questions and objections in writing. You can find this letter here .
Implementation as of July 1?
Several members indicate that they have been told that the obligation to work in the office two days a week will come into effect on 1 July 2025. In the conversation on 2 June, ING indicated that an introduction with effect from 1 July 2025 is not expected. Even if the works council were to issue advice before 1 July, time would then be needed for consultation between managers, the team and employees to make agreements within the policy.
In addition, it is good to know that an employer must give employees sufficient time to adjust their private appointments if, for example, the employee has to work on other days or has to work at a different location (with more travel time).
Next periodic meeting
The next periodic consultation will be on Monday 16 June 2025.
The following topics are on the agenda:
- Learning working group
The Learning Joint Working Group was set up on the proposal of De Unie set up during the collective bargaining negotiations. This working group has started an investigation into the Learning Account. In the periodic consultation we receive information from the working group about their findings. - Gender distribution across job grades
