ICK: Renewed wage offer from the employers

December 14 2022

A meeting was scheduled for yesterday. Last week we asked you to let employers know what the 3% wage offer is doing to you as employees. Before the consultations started, we handed over all responses in a 24-page white paper to the employers' delegation. Expectant Thursday, December 15 at 19:30 p.m is there a members meeting, non-members are also welcome.

Cao increase not for everyone

Then we resumed the thread of the negotiations. After last time's disappointing wage offer, it was clear that this would be a tough one. Moreover, you indicated en masse that the wage agreement that we make in the collective labor agreement should really apply to everyone. With inflation soaring, all employees in the ICK are also entitled to a fair salary increase. It cannot be the case that some people who simply carry out their work will be less well compensated next year than other employees in the same company. Proper agreements in the collective labor agreement are therefore also necessary in order to receive a fair remuneration.

Rigid

Employers indicate that they want to maintain the current system, as stated in the collective labor agreement. For some companies, this works out reasonably to well for employees. At other companies, however, this has a very negative effect for some of the employees. Because of the way it is now stated in the collective labor agreement, companies can interpret the rules for employees in a more disadvantageous way than they are intended. In the worst case, employees receive no compensation at all for increased prices, because all the financial scope that the collective agreement offers is used to allocate to a small group of high-performance employees. We think this is an undesirable situation, which the employers' association does not want to change.

Salary gap

Inflation is still in the double digits. Collective agreements are made here and there that are around 10% or more. De Unie together with the other unions has submitted a renewed offer with a wage demand of 8% for everyone. The employers have increased their offer to 5% according to the current method of the collective labor agreement, which means that not everyone can count on that salary increase. That is not enough for us as unions with the current method. The employer indicates that this is the maximum scope they can offer and that they are not open to discussing changes to the system.

Online employee meeting

To discuss the situation that has arisen with you, I invite you to a team meeting on Thursday, December 15 at 19:30 p.m. It is up to you to let us know what you think of the renewed offer and if it is not sufficient we will have to discuss how we can persuade employers to come up with an acceptable wage offer at the next meeting on Friday 23 December. Your colleagues who are not members are also welcome to join.
