ICK: Update collective bargaining

December 22 2022

Employers do not take unions and their employees seriously

In the meeting of December 15, 2022, the members called on the unions to pause. The description of the course of the last negotiation shows that employers in the ICK show insufficient respect for their own employees and their representatives. What can employees expect from such negotiations? If employers do not come up with a decent offer that does justice to the current economic situation for their employees, the members see no reason to continue talking right now.

Blunt rejection and deaf ears

Employers bluntly indicate that matters deemed important by members are not up for discussion. This while it is precisely a letter of proposals that raises the points that the parties want to discuss. This way you cannot negotiate on the content. Members have indicated clear points in their commitment letter for the new collective labor agreement on which results must be achieved. There is virtually no movement to be observed, both with regard to the level of the salary increase and with regard to the collective nature of these agreements. Also on other points such as a minimum agreement on travel costs and travel time = working time (for people in the field) is not negotiable.

Time for reflection

Time to consider further steps. We will use the next month to discuss with our members how we can bring employers to respectful negotiations. Therefore, we will not appear at the table on December 23, 2022.
