What was the purpose of the staff meeting?

De Unie We especially wanted to clearly explain to the employees of the Customer Service Center (CSC) the rights and arrangements agreed upon in the social plan. We also wanted to listen to the questions and concerns of H&M's CSC employees following H&M's announcement that it would be closing the department.

De Unie organised the employee meeting in collaboration with the H&M works council and the AVV trade union.

What was discussed during the staff meeting?

Approximately 60 employees from H&M's CSC attended the meeting. The unions gave a presentation on the contents of the social plan, and many employees asked questions and expressed concerns about their personal situations.

The unions are shocked by the uncertainty currently facing employees. Together with the Works Council, we have tried to answer all the questions we received. Any questions we were unable to answer (immediately) have been noted by the Works Council and will be answered at a later date where possible.

What are the next steps?

The unions have written to H&M requesting clarification and want to resume talks soon. The most important thing is that all H&M CSC employees receive clarity and certainty as soon as possible about what awaits them and what their rights are. We are working on this.

Many employee questions must be answered by H&M itself. For example, it was unclear to employees exactly when they were entitled to benefits from the social plan, when they would officially be released from work, or when they could start looking for a new job. It also turned out that H&M's communications contained information that contradicted the agreements in the social plan. This needs to be addressed. De Unie concerns will be adjusted as soon as possible.
