Result of three-quarter meeting

A three-quarter meeting is intended to gauge the extent to which our members are willing to take action and whether De Unie an ultimatum to GKN Fokker. An ultimatum, because our members have rejected GKN Fokker's final offer for a new social plan twice. Because GKN Fokker is not prepared to move any further, the next step is to send an ultimatum. With the aim of persuading your employer to agree on a better social plan with De Unie and her fellow unions.

We can only do this if a quarter of our members are present at the members meeting. Then 3/4 must be present.e of the members present agree to send an ultimatum and a possible subsequent course of action. This is laid down in the statutes of De UnieThese are, by the way, common provisions in the statutes of a trade union.

Unfortunately, only 22 members were present at the members meeting of April 2. We therefore did not have the quorum to be able to take further steps.

In concrete terms this means that De Unie cannot participate in the actions that the other unions are now taking to persuade GKN Fokker to agree on a good social plan with us. Because we support the joint efforts of the unions for the new social plan, we do support the actions, even though we do not actively participate in them ourselves.

If GKN Fokker is prepared to enter into serious discussions with the unions about a better social plan than the final offer it has put on the table, De Unie of course, participate in the conversations again.

When there are new developments regarding the social plan, we will inform the members.

The WAU

GKN Fokker would also like to discuss the WAU with us. We also failed to reach an agreement on the WAU 2024. GKN Fokker wants to fundamentally change that arrangement. We have proposed to extend the arrangement for the WAU 2023 unchanged to the WAU 2024, and then to enter into a substantive discussion about the WAU 2025. The employer does not want that. GKN Fokker has an idea in mind for the WAU 2024, from which it does not want to deviate one millimeter. In addition, we have indicated that we will only discuss the WAU 2025 after we have agreed on a good social plan together.

The negotiations on the WAU are therefore at a standstill. What this means in concrete terms for the benefit is currently unclear. GKN Fokker has not made any statements to us about this.

Yes I would like to get updates.

The negotiations with GKN Fokker are very difficult. They have been for the last 3 to 4 years, on every subject. Something seems to have changed in the culture of GKN Fokker. Previously, GKN Fokker was an example to us of how to deal with the employment conditions of employees. The attitude of GKN Fokker in that area, and therefore also towards the unions, has changed. And not in a positive way, in our opinion.

It helps us in our negotiations with the employer if we are as strong as possible. That is only possible with as many members as possible. Therefore, make your colleague enthusiastic about becoming a member of De Unie! Then we have a better negotiating position with the employer.

And in addition to the collective advocacy that De Unie before you do, you have as a Complete member of De Unie also right to individual advocacy. This concerns your personal situation with regard to your work. For example, in a reintegration process, questions about your pension, a new employment contract, a conflict during an assessment, a conflict in the workplace, etc.
