The members of De Unie voted unanimously against this final offer. The members of the other unions also voted (almost) unanimously against this final offer. On March 28, we as unions therefore sat down with the employer again. GKN Fokker then made a new final offer.
The new final offer
On March 28, we did not reach a negotiation result. The employer made a new final offer. That means that we again did not reach an agreement with GKN Fokker.
The new final offer is better than the old one, but in our opinion it is still insufficient.
Where do we see the pain points?
- The termination compensation is still very meagre. Lower in any case than we see in other social plans that we have recently agreed with companies in the Metalektro.
- Furthermore, you will be “punished” if you do not accept the settlement agreement that GKN Fokker offers you in the event of redundancy and GKN Fokker files a dismissal application for you with the UWV. We believe that this obstructs the legal process. In our view, it should make no financial difference how the dismissal is effected.
- The budget for outplacement and training is very meagre. Lower than the average we usually agree on.
- We believe that the reduction of a personal allowance in the event of redeployment to a suitable lower position is nonsensical.
Apart from the fact that the final offer is lower than what is currently common, it is in any case far below the agreements from the previous social plan of GKN Fokker. And that while the shareholders of GKN Fokker are well off in 2024. GKN is doing well worldwide. In the Netherlands, things went less well in 2024, but the prospects are quite good.
The joint unions will hold a members meeting on April 9 in Papendrecht and on April 10 in Hoogeveen. Unfortunately, our lobbyist will not be present. Just like with the previous final offer, our members with a Complete or Extra membership will be able to vote digitally on the new final offer on April 9 and 10.
