Forced redundancies at Philips IT

The proposed reorganization at Philips Footprint Group IT will cost 106 colleagues their jobs. De Unie has asked Philips to discuss the usefulness and necessity of the reorganization as soon as possible. We want clarity for the employees.

On Tuesday 5 June 2022 it is De Unie informed of the announced reorganization at Philips Footprint Group IT. Because Philips first wanted to inform the employees itself, this information was confidential until 18.00 p.m. today. We found it very annoying that the media was already aware of it.

Reorganization

Not surprisingly, Philips announces yet another reorganization and moves work abroad. But the magnitude of this reorganization is certainly surprising. The job loss for 106 permanent colleagues is dramatic. It has been a long time since Philips announced a reorganization of this magnitude. Despite the good central social plan at Philips, we are very concerned.

Philips must explain necessity

We have informed Philips that we would like further information on the usefulness, necessity and consequences of this reorganization in the near future. We also want to know whether there are alternatives within Philips for all affected employees. No knowledge and experience should be lost unnecessarily. In the current labor market crisis, everyone is desperately needed. How will Philips guarantee the quality of its IT services now that a significant part of its work is going abroad? And what does that mean for the workload? We have already discussed these concerns with the Philips Central Works Council and they share our concerns.
