Following the members' meeting, we (the trade unions) had a follow-up meeting with the employer on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. In this we once again discussed our view of the hassle with the changes to the job classification system, the wage structure and the individual position (offer) of employees.

Employer position

According to the employer, it is not all as big as it seems. This is a correction with some overdue maintenance that affects a very limited number of people and does not anticipate a complete integration of both organizational structures. With regard to overdue maintenance, some functions were re-described based on the practice of the work and re-evaluated together with an HR colleague from Vlissingen (who has followed a course at FME). The consequences have been compensated as described in the Collective Labor Agreement Metalektro.

The Works Council (OR) already gave a positive advice for the entire process in January 2022, which means that there was no need to make accompanying agreements with the trade unions.

Position of trade unions

According to the trade unions and the reports from the members, this concerns a larger group of employees who have received a new job description and for which approval has already been signed (whether or not by a colleague). In the run-up to this offer, the employer did not follow the process described in the collective labor agreement.

This means, among other things, that:

  • The FME as system owner has been asked to rate the functions described again.
  • The wage system experts of the trade unions are enabled to check this.
  • An objection procedure is set up by the employer with an independent committee (so not limited to just the manager or HR).

The unions also state that they should have been involved at an earlier stage so that they were able to make accompanying agreements that mitigated not only the immaterial but also the material consequences.

Outcome consultation

Although the employer itself reports several times in the consultation that the organizational structure has been adjusted, the invitation to discuss something such as a redundancy plan is not forthcoming. This is very unsatisfactory!

Wat nu?

The trade unions want the employer to comply with the collective labor agreement and will demand this (in writing). This process can take a while. In the meantime, you may already be dealing with this and want to continue with this personally.
