Covestro: Collective Labor Agreement 2025-2026 proposals and round I

27 August 2025

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the parties met for an initial consultation regarding the 2025-2026 collective labor agreement negotiations. Managing Director Marc Roelands explained the challenging circumstances the company is currently operating under.

Next, we discussed the current status of the three working groups (collective labor agreement 2024-2025). Not all studies have been completed yet, and it was too early to assess the outcomes. The goal remains to discuss the working groups' findings during this collective labor agreement process. We will get back to you on this matter.

The four employee organisations then explained their respective proposal letters.

Our commitment

Our proposals are based on input from our members. They are also supplemented by feedback we gathered during our tour of the four locations. This way, certain proposals are also shared with the other three unions. The main themes are:

  • A structural wage increase of 1% effective October 2025, 10,71. This percentage, according to our calculations, is necessary to achieve a 5% annual improvement in purchasing power over the last five years. Any lower percentage will not achieve this improvement in purchasing power. Feel free to contact me for further information.
  • Workload: We continue to raise awareness of workload and associated stress. Our goal is to structurally reduce workload and, where possible, prevent it.
  • Social plan: We propose to extend the current social plan by 5 years, until 2033.

You can read the full list of our proposals here here.

Round II

Op Monday 1 September 2025 The consultation will continue. We can then expect a comprehensive response from the employer to our proposals. We will keep you informed of the progress of the negotiations.

Stronger together

Improving (or even maintaining) existing employment conditions doesn't happen automatically. It's a matter of proper consultation. The involvement of our members in this effective consultation is crucial. These times present us with challenges. Disappointing business results limit the space needed to develop employment conditions. That's precisely why it's more important than ever for employees to share their opinions and participate.
