With this message we inform you about the outcome of the long-running pension talks between trade unions and employers in the hospitality and contract catering industry.
Retirement plan
On May 2, 2022, KHN, Venec and the trade unions started talks about a new pension scheme. The Horeca & Catering pension fund and the WTW accountants have helped social partners with support and calculations. After more than a year of discussions, we have now come to an agreement. An important condition for reaching agreement was that the Future Pensions Act has been adopted by the House of Representatives and the Senate.
To make it clear what we have agreed on, there is one brochure with an explanation and overview of the agreements made. We would like to clarify a few things. For example, young people from the age of 18 will start building up a pension and there will be a mandatory survivor's pension scheme. We ensure that pensioners receive a certain benefit within limits by building up a solidarity reserve. We are improving the scheme by transferring existing pension rights to personal pension pots (so-called 'going in'). We will compensate any adverse consequences for a small group of participants. The pension fund will implement the new pension scheme so that everything remains with one party that you can turn to for your pension.
Vote and sequel
The members have received an invitation to vote until Tuesday 5 September 2023 on the new pension scheme. Then we will update the results of the vote De Unie and of the other parties.
We ask members who are now dormant or retired for advice on transferring the assets of the pension fund from the current scheme to the new pension scheme (going into operation).
Once the members have agreed, De Nederlandsche Bank still looks at the transition document, which contains all important information about the agreements. Subsequently, the pension fund will put the new scheme into the systems in order to be able to properly administer the pension as of 1 January 2025.
