On Monday, October 6, 2025, we held our sixth meeting to discuss the social plan related to the closure of the C&A distribution center in Lisse. We once again asked C&A to meet with the employees in person. We also discussed the substantive proposals made by the unions. Advocate Jesse van Roeden shares an update below.

What did we discuss on October 6?
C&A reviewed all the proposals submitted by the unions. Based on these, C&A made adjustments to the (draft) social plan. These kinds of adjustments may seem minor, but they can have major consequences for employees.
Some examples:
- Agreements regarding employees who would soon be celebrating their work anniversary.
- The date on which employees are told that they are becoming redundant.
- Space to apply during working hours.
What don't we have an agreement on yet?
Unfortunately, we did not have a meeting on Monday, October 6th, regarding the amount of severance pay or budgets for outplacement, legal advice, and employee training. These are essential components of the social plan. The unions have indicated that they want to review the entire package, rather than assessing each budget individually. C&A has agreed to negotiate the details with the unions in the upcoming meetings.
Why does it take so long before we get a result?
After six (!) meetings, we had hoped to be further along than where we are now. The unions have made numerous proposals and adjustments, which have now (almost all) been discussed. However, no concrete negotiations have yet taken place on severance pay and budgets.
As unions, we depend on the offer C&A makes and the space it provides for negotiation. And that's precisely where we don't have sufficient clarity yet. We hope to receive it soon.
What are the next steps?
The uncertainty and lack of clarity are taking their toll on the employees of the DC Lisse. The advocacy group has again Urged C&A to personally meet with employees and listen to their questions and concerns. Hopefully, they will heed this.
We expect C&A to make a good offer for compensation and budget levels before the next meeting. This way, we can quickly take steps to provide clarity to employees. If that's not possible, De Unie in consultation with the other unions about the next steps.
