Last week, the unions were informed by GKN Fokker Aerospace BV (Aerostructures Papendrecht and Landing Gear) and Fokker Elmo BV about a proposed reorganization. According to Fokker, there are three developments that have led to this decision:
- Reduction of Non-Recurring Costs (NRC);
- Volume decline at Gulfstream, Airbus and Dassault;
- Specific challenges for Papendrecht Structures, such as the lifecycle phase and affordability.

The proposed reorganization will result in job losses, particularly within the Civil business line in Papendrecht.
Role of the works council
Fokker has now submitted a request for advice to the Central Works Council (COR). The COR will assess the necessity and justification of the proposed reorganization and issue advice on this.
Social plan
De Unie will enter into discussions with Fokker, together with the other unions, to negotiate a social plan. This plan aims to mitigate the impact of the reorganization on employees as much as possible, for example by means of severance payments, guidance to other work or retraining programs.
