House
Gilbert Mattu, Director of Services and Facilities, updated us on the increasing office occupancy, including office presence. The building is one of the most sustainable office environments in Utrecht. It has 84.000 m² of floor space and 2150 permanent workstations, with a peak occupancy of 1750 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. On those days, only 15% of the capacity is available, compared to Wednesdays and Fridays. There are 2200 seats and rooms, 90 official meeting rooms, and 50 mobile call units. Ten more call units will be added in the near future.
Employees are expected to be in the office 40% of the time, and this requires coordination regarding full team occupancy in terms of space. Sensor technology will be introduced in the first quarter of 2026 to monitor workstation usage and prevent "putting down the towel" behavior in a workstation or meeting room. 120 sit-stand desks will be positioned more prominently. The number of workstations is calculated using a factor of 0,4, but this factor adapts to the size or downsizing of a department.
Bovemij
Robert van der Schaaf (Director of Non-Life Insurance) then visited us to explain the Bovemij transaction. In 2024, BOVAG launched a project to sell a 25% minority stake in Bovemij to the market. This plan failed, but the 100% divestment was successful. There are synergy benefits and diversification opportunities for asr that Bovemij itself didn't previously have. The deal also gives asr exclusive access to BOVAG members. The deal closing, including approval from regulators DNB, ACM, and NZA, is expected after the summer of 2026. The integration plan will be ready by the end of 2026, and Robert wants the integration process to be completed by the end of 2027. He will visit us again at the end of 2026 to explain the integration process. This will also provide more clarity about the integration of Bovemij into asr and the employment conditions.
Pension communication
Next, we focused on the communication surrounding the transition from ASR to the new pension plan as of January 2026. Webinars explaining the new pension plan were held in August and September 2025. 700 unique viewers attended, of whom 69% indicated they had a better understanding of the topics covered, giving them a score of 8. A letter with a personal pension overview was then sent in November. choice planner Webinars explaining the letter and the options were held on December 4th and 8th. 1500 unique viewers attended, 93% of whom indicated they had a better understanding of the topics covered and gave a score of 8,5. Walk-in consultations were organized in December 2025 at the Groningen, Leeuwarden, Enschede, Heerlen, and Utrecht locations. This year, starting in early February, pension consultations with Montae or Advies van asr and webinars by asr Vooruit, specifically about employee investments, will be held.
Negotiations
The formal finalization of the collective labor agreement text is underway, but we have already begun planning negotiations for a new collective labor agreement and social plan. Both will expire simultaneously at the end of this year. Our first day of negotiations is scheduled for Friday, September 25, 2026. The second, which we have already scheduled, is for Tuesday, October 6. Well before the first day of negotiations, we will be reaching out to our members to gather their support for the new collective labor agreement and social plan.
