In this message we will inform you about the progress of the merger of the employment conditions of asr and Aegon. Representatives of trade unions, HR and employee participation from asr and Aegon. have had a fourth and fifth meeting on March 14 and 18, 2023. It is 9:XNUMX on Friday evening when I, representative Emanuel Geurts, leave our clubhouse in Utrecht. We call the Parel van Zuilen our clubhouse because it is the permanent place where we have our conversations. It was a long day that did not go according to the agenda. On the way home I call another participant in the meeting to go over the day again. We rewind the film and evaluate the day. On the one hand, this ensures that I have a good picture of what happened and, on the other hand, that I distance myself after a day of 'being on'. The closer to home, the more I notice that 'the porridge' is gone. Although I have been doing this work for a while, these types of sessions remain very intensive. Now it's the weekend, just refuel.

The intention was that we would continue with the process of first integration and then harmonization of employment conditions. Parties however concluded that we had a different view of what we meant by integration and harmonisation. Apparently we had not discussed this well enough with each other. The external chairman instructed the parties to coordinate within their own circle and then (again) make a joint choice.

During the suspension, we started a discussion about the interests of asr and Aegon employees and concrete questions/concerns of employees. Current questions have to do with the future of work, the location, travel and travel time, the working conditions that exist now and will come when you start working side by side in the future. The answers to that matter and to a lesser extent the legal route that takes.

Trade unions have previously sent a letter to asr and Aegon about desired agreements for Aegon and asr employees about employment, locations and the redundancy plan. After closing, asr has set aside three years for the integration of both companies. Sooner or later this can mean something to every employee. That is why we want agreements on employment, locations and social plan that apply as a common basis for everyone, in addition to harmonization agreements for the Aegon employees who come over. Employers are willing to make agreements about this.

Trade unions have also proposed working with a conversion model for terms of employment. The model provides all employees with a personal overview of the employment conditions they had and will receive. This provides insight and hopefully also confidence in its correctness. Employers have also responded positively to this. They proposed to have the AWNV give a presentation on Tuesday 18 April.

Dinsdag 18 April 2023

The fifth meeting was only an evening session. We have received a detailed explanation of the conversion model used by the AWVN. Every Aegon employee therefore receives a so-called personal benefit statement, which includes at least the salary, position, scale, working hours, pension as they were and what is included with asr. We will further compare all employment conditions and supplement the conversion model if necessary. We also talked about pensions since we didn't get to that on Friday 14 April. In essence, this means that asr will offer the pension scheme it has to Aegon employees who will join the company on October 1, 2023, the moment of the intended formal merger of both employers. Tuesday 9 May we will continue with the discussions. To be continued!
