2e round negotiations

All points of the collective labor agreement parties in the themes of employment conditions and relationships, development, policy, pension and salary have been discussed. The points in the term, social plan and union work will be discussed next time because we could not deal with them in the available time.

The wage offer

The most important point on which Aegon has provided clarity is the salary. As of July 1, 2024, Aegon is offering a 3,5% structural salary increase with a minimum of 250 euros and a maximum of 440 euros per month for a one-year collective labor agreement. Depending on your scale and RSP, this increases to a maximum of 9,5% if you are in scale 70 with an RSP of 7%. Aegon wants to compensate employees in the lower salary groups more for the increased cost of living than the higher scales. The only problem is that there are almost no employees in the lower scales on a low RSP and most employees are at the end of the higher scales. Few employees therefore benefit from this distinction and many employees miss their salary indexation over the past and present. Other arguments that Aegon gave for this wage offer are that there is pressure on the cost ratios and that losses have been incurred, which means that not much is possible.

The pension scheme

We do agree on pensions that there will be an agreement on the process to arrive at a new pension scheme. We still have time for that and this does not have to be arranged in the next collective labour agreement.

The social plan

The social plan will not be discussed in the next round, but in the round after that.

The sequel

Tuesday, October 15, 2024, the 3e round planned in Van der Valk Wassenaar. Shortly after, the members will receive another update.

Aegon employees can have their union contribution offset against their flex budget in a tax-friendly way via Flexbenefits. New employees can become members for a year De Unie, paid by Aegon. You do not pay any contribution, we arrange that directly with Aegon.

What do you think?

The initial reactions from the rank and file to Aegon's published wage offer are characterized by disbelief, irritation and cynicism. The interests of the employees are subordinate to those of Aegon and its shareholders, employees pay the 'price' and CEO Lard Friese has arranged things well for himself (in time). The walk-in session at Aegon on Thursday morning produced similar reactions, in addition to questions about the negotiations and the role that De Unie in this has.

As an advocate, Emanuel Geurts, I want to represent your opinion, arguments and interests as best as possible at the negotiating table. That is why I ask you to send your response to the wage offer by e-mail to emanuel.geurts@unie.nl to send and/or call 06-5252 2074.
