Information session

Wednesday 11 May 2022 we had a meeting with Allegra van Hövell-Patrizi and Boaz Magid. They provided us with an explanation of the strategy and the financial situation of Aegon Netherlands. Allegra talked about the proposition, where growth is possible and with which products, services and business units this is done. Every day she aims for passion for the customer, simple business processes, clear capital choices, being in control and sustainability. In-depth staff sessions will follow at the townhall meeting she held about this, in which the focus is on what these changes mean for you. Boaz explained what actions have been taken since the Capital Markets Day at the end of 2020, where Aegon stands now and what the financial KPIs are in 2022 and 2023. While positive steps have been taken, he indicated that further cost reductions in each part will be needed to achieve a sustainable business model.

Quarterly figures

From 1e Aegon NV's 2022 quarterly figures were announced on 12 May 2022. Aegon presents its progress on its strategic and financial targets. These can be read in a concise, more numerical form via https://www.aegon.com/siteassets/2022/results/aegon-1q-2-2022-infographic.jpg and in text via https://www.aegon.com/siteassets/2022/results/aegon-1q-2022-press-release-nederlands.pdf† My question to you is what this tells you and what you can / do with it in your work? I'm very curious about your opinion about it. Know that all responses will be treated confidentially.

Collective Labor Agreement planning

We also discussed which topics we will tackle first on the 2e round of negotiations next Monday, May 23. These are reward & appreciation, social plan and employability. We estimate that we need more time to discuss all the topics raised at least once. That is why we have extended some already planned consultation dates in terms of duration and set two new dates before the start of the summer period in July.

Global Grading

On Monday 2 May there was a meeting of the Global Grading working group. The status of the project is that employees received their letter in April with the outcome of the weighting of the position in phase 1 and phase 2. Questions received from employees and managers in response to the letter mainly concerned the explanation of the rationales. The plan is that employees will receive an email at the end of May stating their WTW Global Grading and new job title. As of June 1, the Global Grading team wants to have the new job profiles with job family, Global Grade, job title and salary scale in the HR system Workday and go 'live'.

Retirement

Pension is not currently a topic of discussion at Aegon. It is good to keep abreast of developments. The Cabinet recently announced new pension legislation. The trade union federation VCP (where De Unie is affiliated with) has given a first reaction to it https://www.vcp.nl/nieuwe-pensioenwet-fundament-is-gelegd/† The new law supplements the previous pension law with concrete elaborations of the two pension contracts. The bill will be discussed in the 2nd and then 1st Chamber later this year with the intention of having the law take effect on January 1, 2023. National associations of trade unions and employers, together with the government, have created a website to provide information to employees and employers about pensions. You can find everything about the legislative process, both pension contracts and questions & answers at https://www.werkenaanonspensioen.nl/.
