Reorganization Asset Management
Global General Counsel Trudy Stassen has given us an explanation of the motives for the upcoming reorganization at Aegon Asset Management (AAM). Earlier this week, AAM employees received a message from CEO Shawn Johnson. In it, he explains how, after his appointment in 2024, he came to the conclusion that AAM should be transformed from a centrally managed organization to a local and customer-oriented organization. This will also result in job losses for which the social plan applies. The AAM works council has received a request for advice on the reorganization and will issue its advice on this.
Move
On May 19, 2025, Aegon's move from Aegonplein in The Hague to Schiphol will be a fact. Although not everyone is happy about it, it was about time. To be honest, life has been out of the Hague 'ball pit' for a while now.
HR has agreed with both participation bodies on a mobility policy for employees that will come into effect on 1 May 2025. Travel time compensation and any redundancy based on the travel distance from the social plan also apply to the move. HR has given us a presentation of the measures to facilitate employees in their travel to the new workplace. HR is also conducting research into the use in order to gain a better picture of the need and any subsequent adjustments to the measures.
CLA and social plan
Furthermore, we discussed the collective labor agreement projects that need to be done in the (remaining) term of the collective labor agreement and the social plan. The modernization of the collective labor agreement text is postponed for the time being due to other priorities. The other study agreements on modernization of the social plan, the use of financial advice, the future of the early retirement scheme (RVU), research into equal pay and the (preparation for the) upcoming pension negotiations have been provided with a schedule and will start in the coming months.
We have determined the planning of the upcoming periodic consultations between trade unions and Aegon. We have set these for May 16 and July 1, 2025. The negotiation rounds and external process supervisor have also been determined. Tom Gibcus of A-Advies will guide the social partners. The negotiations are scheduled for September 25, October 6, October 16, November 7 and finally November 19, 2025.
