Start of negotiations
On Wednesday afternoon, September 4, we started the negotiations for a new collective labor agreement and social plan for you and Aegon. After an introductory round, Damiaan Jacobovits de Szeged (CEO AAM NL) and Jurgen van Rossum (Head of Corporate Financial Center) provided an explanation of the new Aegon organization, the context, strategy and financials. HR also provided some insight into the staff structure and composition per organizational unit and the total organization. Finally, we explained the letters of intent to each other and made agreements about the negotiation process, including communication. Before the start, we have a joint communication message drawn up.
Commitment to the negotiations
In short, these are our key points:
1. De Unie proposes to structurally increase salaries and salary scales substantially as of July 1, 2024.
2. Although the current pension scheme does not need to change, De Unie make agreements about a transition to the Future Pensions Act, to provide peace of mind and insight into the process for employees and employers.
3. In view of the changes within Aegon, such as the relocation and sale of parts, De Unie continue the current social plan unchanged to provide employees with security.
4. To ensure agility in the market, advocate De Unie for development plans for each employee, including an unlimited study budget and time compensation for training. There should also be more attention for internships and the prevention of internship discrimination.
5. De Unie advocates for more recognition of informal caregivers, paid volunteer leave and opportunities for a sabbatical. Increasing the vitality budget for sports activities is proposed to promote health. Managers are trained in recognizing undesirable behavior.
6. Aegon encourages employees to travel sustainably by offering extra compensation for the use of public transport and bicycles. A loan or budget is also offered for home sustainability.
In commitment letter from De Unie read what our complete commitment is for the new collective labor agreement and the new social plan. The commitment of Aegon for these negotiations is now also known, but still little concrete. We expect that more clarity will come later in the process.
Schedule
The second day of negotiations is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, 2024. We will then tackle a number of themes and proposals to discuss further. There is some pressure on time, because for the time being we have planned four rounds for the collective labor agreement and the social plan.
