Aegon: An update

October 19, 2022

In this message I, advocate Emanuel Geurts, inform you about the past periodic consultation, the collective labor agreement & social plan and pension. In short, a little bit of everything. Thursday, October 13, 2022, there was periodic consultation at Aegon. In these consultations, the trade unions, HR and the COR discuss current affairs at Aegon and we work on the implementation of collective labor agreements.

Talent Marketplace

Bas van Helsdingen (HR) explained to us how Aegon wants to use the talent market place instrument to link the available jobs, mentors and (temporary) jobs within the entire Aegon group to the available capacity and skills of employees. It should provide more insight into the career paths to be followed, promote internal mobility and match the need for temporary capacity. For the time being, this is a pilot that will start at the beginning of 2023 at IT before it will be introduced Aegon-wide later in 2023.

Global Grading

The Global Grading project is being completed. The objection and appeal committees have dealt with almost all objections and appeals submitted. After phase 1 (reclassification by Korn Ferry) and phase 2 (conversion to WTW Global Grades), 108 employees filed an objection. Employees made the same objection for a number of positions. In total there were about 60 different functions. The submitted objections came from AAM, Hypotheken, Aegon NL, Corporate Center, KNAP and TKP. Of these 108 objections, 47% has been granted, 43% rejected, 9% on hold and 1% still pending. Three appeals have been submitted to the Appeals Committee, one of which has been rejected and two are still pending.

CLA and social plan

The current state of affairs regarding the texts of the new collective labor agreement and the new social plan is that they have been drawn up and commented on by all parties. The final adjustments to the text are now made. The texts then go to communication for the layout and translation into English (3rd and 4th week of October). The collective labor agreement and social plan will then be formulated by an external agency in the 1st and 2nd week of November. It is expected that in mid-November the communication of the collective labor agreement and the social plan will take place via the intranet of all Aegon entities.

Retirement

The new Pension Act is currently being discussed by the 2e Room. It was recently announced that the implementation date has been moved from January 1, 2023 to July 1, 2023. Trade unions, employers and the government have created a website to provide information to employees and employers about pensions. You can find everything about the legislative process, pension contracts and questions & answers on https://www.werkenaanonspensioen.nl/.
