The consultation on Achmea's final proposal is ongoing. Because we were unable to reach an agreement in principle, we've noticed some confusion and/or discussion. Therefore, this information provides a brief explanation.

Broad support
The approach of De Unie is to involve as many employees as possible in the development of a new collective labor agreement. That is why De Unie We carefully consider the wishes of all employees (a preliminary survey), and we also believe it's important that everyone shares their opinion on the outcome. This gives us a stronger negotiating position.
Naturally, the goal is for the negotiations to ideally lead to an agreement. After all, an agreement between the unions and Achmea is the most desirable and comfortable outcome. Unfortunately, this isn't always possible.
Different starting points
There can be no misunderstanding that Achmea offers excellent employment conditions. The three unions have always aimed to maintain them. And isn't that logical? After all, the company's results are excellent.
Achmea, on the other hand, has chosen a different approach. Bianca Tetteroo is quite clear and honest about this in her statements. More market conformity due to competitive considerations. This has translated into a slightly lower salary increase than the Dutch average and lower pension costs for Achmea than in recent years.
It has become clear that these two principles currently make it impossible to reach an agreement between the unions and Achmea. We estimate that – partly based on the survey results – there is little support among employees for Achmea's position. In response, Achmea has felt the need to end the talks with the unions by submitting a final proposal. A final proposal that De Unie has also qualified as 'almost'.
No agreement
Failure to reach an agreement is always awkward, of course. And because all employees are now allowed to express their opinions, at the behest of the three unions, both Achmea and the unions have provided explanations for the situation. Each in their own way.
We have now received several signals that Achmea states that De Unie has assessed the final proposal for the new collective labor agreement as 'neutral' and would therefore give a 'neutral' voting recommendation. I would like to emphasize that we use this term did not have used.
