Achmea: Clear result!

December 01 2022

Following the discussion about the high inflation and costs in relation to the 'limited structural wage agreements' in the Achmea collective labor agreement, Achmea has proved willing to compensate employees with a 'limited financial benefit'. In our previous posts we explained this.

Entirely in Union style – and knowing that Achmea itself also attaches importance to employee participation in the development of terms and conditions of employment – we recently asked you and your colleagues what they think of this concession. Many hundreds of members/employees have responded to this.

The result is as follows:

  • 2,3% are satisfied with the current compensation from Achmea, in response to a request for compensation for increased employee costs.
  • 11,1% would have preferred to receive a higher compensation, but understand that this is not possible, because Achmea does not pass on the increased costs to customers and wants to maintain profit.
  • 85,2% are disappointed with Achmea's response. When weighing up the interests of the customer, financial health and employees, it is felt that the interests of the employee are insufficiently addressed.
  • 1,4% is 'neutral' and has no further opinion on this subject.

There was also extensive use of the option to provide an explanation. Here, too, many of your colleagues express disappointment – usually in quite clear terms.

We have now asked Achmea for a response.
To be continued!
