ABN AMRO: Hybrid working

June 13, 2025

Many members responded to our request for topics in the regular consultation with ABN-AMRO. This shows that you consider the topic of hybrid working to be very important. More and more home workers are being forced to come to the office more often. That is why we discussed the topic of hybrid working with the bank.

Hybrid work

Many members have indicated that they have major concerns about hybrid working. In various departments of the bank, it is now being stated that everyone must come to the office two days. These are also fixed days on which you must be present at the office. It does not matter how many days a week you work. In other departments, the assumption is now two days a week and in the long term that will become three or four days.

Consultation

We discussed this during the consultation. We have already discussed this with the bank, but it always appears that in several departments it is expected that you have to come to the office several days. This concerns several departments. We find this contradictory to the collective labor agreement agreements on hybrid working. That collective labor agreement reads as follows, see also the collective labor agreement at 4.3.3:

4.3.3 Hybrid working

“Hybrid working is the combination of working together in physical and digital form at the office, at home or elsewhere. You can therefore largely determine where and when you work, unless you perform location-bound work. You make agreements about this with your manager and your team. When making these agreements, the interests of the bank, the team and the requirements of the work are taken into account.”

It is not about the extremes, such as never or hardly going to the office. Or new colleagues who need to be trained. You make an agreement about that together to guide them. But imposing coming to the office two or more days and on fixed days does not fit in with the agreements in the collective labor agreement.

Continuation

The bank is discussing this internally and we and the other unions are also considering it. As soon as there is news, we will inform everyone.
