On December 3, 2024, we explained to our members the outcome we had reached for the new pension scheme at Tata Steel in accordance with the WTP (Future Pensions Act). At that point, negotiations weren't entirely finalized. There was still a discussion about the pension premium Tata Steel was willing to pay. We reached a full agreement just before the summer. As unions, we agreed on a transition plan with Tata Steel.

Transition plan
The transition plan is a mandatory document under the WTP (Work and Pensions Act). In this plan, the social partners (trade unions and employers) outline the structure of the new pension scheme. The pension fund must then decide whether it can and wants to implement it. The pension fund has already informally indicated that all signals are green in this regard.
The next step now is that Tata Steel, De Unie and its fellow unions must formally give their "yes" to the transition plan. And as is the case with any union, our members have the final say. What has now been finalized can be considered an agreement in principle between the unions and Tata Steel.
Explanation of the new pension scheme
Before members with a Full or Extra membership can vote on the transition plan, we will once again provide an explanation of the new pension plan. The transition plan is a lengthy document, containing a fair amount of jargon. We realize that not everyone can or wants to read the full explanation. Therefore, before the voting period, we will provide a summary presentation on the contents of the new pension plan.
That presentation is the same as the presentation I gave on December 3, 2024. In terms of content, the transition plan has hardly changed in recent months, except for some technical details.
Nevertheless, I'm giving the presentation again. For those who couldn't be there then, but also for those who would like to hear the information again. This is all to enable our members to make a well-considered assessment of the transition plan's content.
