Dutch Casino: De Unie scores on Brush Services

September 03 2025

De Unie During the periodic consultation of August 21, 2025, Holland Casino again requested its position on continued payment of breaks for croupiers performing Brush services. This was to avoid legal proceedings. Holland Casino has since amended its policy so that breaks are also paid for croupiers performing Brush services. De Unie is pleased that croupiers who provide Brush services no longer have to pay for their own breaks.

The match isn't over yet

De Unie remains vigilant, as we disagree with Holland Casino's motivation. Holland Casino believes these services should actually be the responsibility of the regulators, and they only pay for breaks to prevent operational problems. De Unie believes that breaks should be paid anyway. The lawyers will therefore continue their work. So, it's only a break, not the end of the road. The aim is to reach a mutually agreed-upon solution with Holland Casino.

De Unie: lobby now for members of parliament

It must be said that there is good cooperation with Holland Casino in lobbying The Hague to prevent the second increase in the gambling tax (KSB). The minimum goal, as is well known, is to postpone this increase. Cancellation would be even better. The second increase has significant consequences for Holland Casino and certainly for you as well. These consequences are being determined.

Now that the State Secretaries (both from NSC) have left this dossier, De Unie On September 11, 2025, at Holland Casino, we will advocate for another approach to Members of Parliament. Preferably, this should be done by members of parties expected to join the government after the upcoming elections.

The arguments of Holland Casino and the unions are solid, and The Hague must find a listening ear for them. The final decision will be made in the autumn, followed by a tense period for Holland Casino.
