Aegon's employees' reactions to us are loud and clear; there are high expectations for these negotiations. Aegon is portraying the potential relocation of the headquarters as a positive development. This is causing considerable unrest and uncertainty for employees.
Within this context, we presented our proposals. Aegon seems to be increasingly realizing that they need to take these signals seriously. The atmosphere is sometimes tense but remains constructive.
Union proposal
We want as much clarity and equality as possible, so we propose a single social plan. Arrangements specific to Magnolia (excluding financial components) may be included in an addendum to this social plan.
We are calling for an expansion of the financial components, which will benefit the entire population. We are also requesting separate budgets for obtaining financial advice, career guidance, training, and for reviewing your settlement agreement. We want to expand the Voluntary Departure Scheme and remove the conditions. Furthermore, attention will be paid to vulnerable groups, such as employees with a visa.
Aegon's response
Aegon has provided an initial response to these proposals. Despite their very different expectations for these negotiations, we have nevertheless come closer together. This is partly due to feedback from our members.
Aegon takes the call for improvements to the social plan seriously and demonstrates this in its consultations. For example, Aegon has proposed several improvements to the calculation of your personal budget.
Furthermore, the saying "everything becomes fluid under pressure" applies here. Aegon would like a new social plan as soon as possible. Whether that's feasible depends on the steps they're willing to take. But it also means it's still too early to provide you with a concrete response from Aegon. That will follow after the next meeting.
Continuation
An additional meeting is scheduled for Friday, October 31st. Members can expect another message from us on Monday, November 3rd.
CLA commitment
We understand that the collective bargaining agreement negotiations are being overshadowed by the social plan. Nevertheless, we would like to ask everyone to share their opinions and suggestions for our collective bargaining agreement efforts. Here about the themes for a new collective labor agreement.
Membership
The future brings uncertainty, as is now evident at Aegon. This also highlights the importance of membership. You can offset your union dues tax-efficiently through your employer. Broad support for De Unie is important. Click Here to become a member.
