De Unie at NXP Semiconductors

We negotiate the collective labor agreement (CLA) and social plan. You can view the CLA as a reflection of the concerns and wishes of employees. That’s why we believe it’s important that as many groups of employees as possible have a voice in the creation of the CLA.

Unfortunately, we see that younger generations currently have little influence, even though the CLA fully applies to them as well. We want to give them a voice.

In addition, we understand that it can be particularly difficult for expats to gain insight into the CLA and how it is established. We are also here to support and represent this group of employees.

What is important to De Unie?

To create broader support, as described above, we submit proposals that address the concerns and wishes of younger generations as well. For example, a scheme that could help ease the burden of student debt.

Because younger generations at NXP often have diverse backgrounds, we have also proposed that traditional Christian public holidays can be exchanged for a holiday that employees personally consider important.

Our news updates and our NXP webpage are always provided and published in English as well, so that non-Dutch speakers can stay informed about developments.

What is currently happening?

The expectation is that chip production in the Netherlands will eventually disappear within approximately ten years. There may be a sale of production facilities in the Netherlands to external parties, for example from China. This development is leading to a reorganization in which the workforce will be significantly reduced.
