UWV: Preparation of collective labor agreement consultation

UWV collective labor agreement consultation De Unie

Members have responded en masse to the call of De Unie. So many e-mails came in as a result of the UWV offer that it really is not possible to answer everyone personally. If you took the trouble to send an email, thank you very much for your contribution.

What do members think of De Unie and their colleagues?

The wage offer of 4% is not acceptable according to the large majority. Some of the reactions to this offer:

  • We feel that this offer is not taken seriously and is not valued.
  • In order to attract and retain staff, the UWV will have to come up with a higher number.
  • The UWV should be ashamed that they dare to propose such a thing.
  • A 4% salary increase is not even close to inflation.
  • I find it particularly shocking that UWV sees no need to go back to the minister for more money and that we have to absorb the increased costs ourselves.
  • The government itself recommends that employers should raise wages. Then they have to lead by example.
  • We are committed every day to serving our clients in the best possible way and we are praised enormously every year for this, but it remains with words.

A few indicate that they understand the position of the UWV.

Opinions on the travel allowance differ more. The employees who do not make use of the car allowance mainly respond along two lines.

  • Some indicate that they do not use the travel allowance for other transport and say that they have no opinion on an employment condition that does not apply to them.
  • Some indicate that they travel by public transport or bicycle themselves, but point to the importance of colleagues who have to incur a lot of costs to get to the office. They therefore argue for a better car allowance.

The employees who do use their own car for their work react somewhat more uniformly. Most indicate that the employer's proposal is not sufficient and emphasizes why it is not possible for them to come by public transport.

  • Public transport doubles the travel time.
  • If the travel time were working time, I would have less trouble with it, but it is not practical.
  • Costs incurred to do your work should be fully reimbursed.
  • The train is an option for me, but with the current quality of the NS this is really not desirable.
  • I do think that if there are medical reasons or a route that is difficult to reach, exceptions should be possible. However, the criteria for this must be very clear.
  • UWV customers do receive € 0,19 per kilometer to come to a UWV location. What's the logic here?

A smaller group endorses the importance of the UWV in contributing to lower CO2 emissions.

How further?

The next collective labor agreement meeting will be held on 8 December. De Unie then respond to the employer's proposal. We do this on the basis of the input we have received from our supporters. After 8 December you will receive a report of the collective labor agreement consultation.

What can you do

From the reactions of the members and their colleagues, we see that many people feel the need to actively help UWV to change their minds.

We would therefore like to ask members to use a teams background during internal online meetings. With this team background you indicate that you want a higher wage increase than the paltry 4% that UWV offers. You can use this to send a clear message to your employer.

You can find the teams background here. Be careful not to use it when speaking to clients or employers online. UWV does not allow this.

And further

De Unie prepares a petition together with the other trade unions. We will distribute these to members as soon as possible. We also prepare other activities.
