April 01, 2022

On March 30, 2022, we further negotiated the new collective labor agreement for Tata Steel. We have made little progress.

The progress

We have discussed all proposals from the various parties. We took a long look at a number of topics: workload, flexible working, generation pact and leave. We have had good discussions on these topics. However, Tata Steel proposes a number of deteriorations, which we obviously do not accept. So we're not done yet. Your employer will do some research on the proposals that we as trade unions have made on these topics.

In the proposals of De Unie and the fellow unions also have a number of minor topics. Your employer has agreed to some of these minor topics.

The last biggest topic is of course the wage offer. Tata Steel has made a slightly improved offer for a structural increase in wages and wage scales: € 65,45 per month and an additional 2%. De Unie and the fellow unions naturally find this offer completely insufficient. It's nowhere near current inflation.

All in all, we still have a long way to go to reach an agreement. The next negotiation day is Wednesday, April 6, 2022. I, representative Hans Korver, will inform you after Wednesday how this negotiation day went.
